A joint event in partnership with SCMA, the Singapore Academy of Law. The mock scenario is based on a fictional misdelivery of cargo and bills of lading dispute to showcase SCMA arbitration in a realistic and complex online arbitration hearing.
It is an opportunity for the audience to experience the arbitral proceedings role played by SAL’s Accredited Specialists and Senior Accredited Specialists in Maritime and Shipping Law and to see how the tribunal arrives at a decision at the end of the mock hearing. The event includes presentations by representatives from the Baltic Exchange Witness Association (BEWA).
All profits from this event will go to the Singapore Shipping Tripartite Alliance Resilience (SG-STAR) Fund established by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), Singapore Maritime Officers' Union (SMOU), and Singapore Organisation of Seamen (SOS). The Fund is the first global tripartite initiative bringing together like-minded international partners from the industry, unions and government to facilitate safe crew changes. The COVID pandemic has caused a crew change crisis and the Fund supports ship crew-supplying nations enhance facilities and capabilities to establish safe and scalable “bubbles” or “corridors” to enable crew change.
