[Webinar] SAL Annual Review of 2019 Cases on Building and Construction Law

The Courts have in 2019, issued a variety of authoritative decisions in the building and construction sphere. Our presenters will highlight these decisions which dealt with letter of award and incorporation of terms, a consultant’s liability for fitness for purpose, time set at large and liquidated damages, damages claim for loss of opportunity and issues in construction defects and performance bond. Of particular interest for the construction industry would be the Court of Appeal decision of PEX International Pte Ltd v Lim Seng Chye (“PEX International”) which made some important observations on the tort of nuisance and the rule in Rylands and Fletcher.

Besides reviewing the cases, our presenters will also discuss the amendments to the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment (Amendment) Act 2018 which came into force after the cases reviewed in this series.
