The Professional Course in E-Discovery Management is a practical, skill-based course that is aimed at legal professionals who have 3-4 years of relevant working experience. It is a part-time continuing education course for those who wish to be trained in what electronic discovery is, the methods and process of e-discovery projects and project management in typical e-discovery projects. This course will give participants the knowledge and expertise to do cross-border work and will position Singapore as a regional hub for e-discovery projects.

Discovery is a procedure in a trial where parties disclose documents within each party’s control to the other side if such documents are sufficiently linked to the potential or actual issues of the dispute. Traditionally a labour-intensive process involving many lawyers and man-hours, discovery can now be done electronically by machines trained to identify and extract mountains of relevant information in just hours rather than months. E-discovery dramatically increases the speed and efficiency of the discovery process, hence reducing costs and saving clients money.

This course will be divided into 4 modules, namely:

1. Fundamentals of e-discovery processes (1 lesson)

2. E-discovery readiness (2 lessons)

3. Project management (2 lessons), and

4. Training on legal analytics and Artificial Intelligence (1 lesson and 1 workshop).

In partnership with Nuix Ringtail, participants of this course will have the coveted opportunity to gain hands-on experience with using a world-class e-discovery software and experience its fully integrated analytics suite that includes data visualisations and analysis to find key facts and fact patterns more quickly. Nuix Ringtail is one of the most complete e-discovery platforms currently available, giving legal teams the technology, scalability, and ease of use to efficiently take on today’s increasingly complex e-discovery challenges with confidence.

This course will be delivered in weekly classroom-based sessions in the evenings to cater for participants who are currently working full-time. It will consist of six 3-hour sessions on weeknights, culminating in a 6-hour workshop on a weekend.
